2015 woodcuts on full sheets of mura washi of several standard sizes. These images borrow patterns and transformations from engravings of Sir William Hamilton’s Vase Collection, where three dimensional ceramic designs have been flattened. Envoy Extraordinary to Naples, he had hand colored prints of his collection of antiquities published in Naples in 1767. My series is about pattern, metamorphosis and reading omens from the flight of birds.
