Enduring Impressions: Contemporary Woodblock Prints

Contemporary mokuhanga presented in collaboration with the Portland Japanese Garden in Oregon, exploring ways contemporary artists incorporate techniques of traditional Japanese woodcut in their creative work. Artists: Yoonmi Nam, April Vollmer, Takenaka Kenji, and Hiroki, Setsuko, and Miho Morinoue, of Donkey Mill Art Center. 

Honolulu Printmakers Talk: A Brief History of the International Mokuhanga Network

Work in progress after a week with Keiko Hara at Anderson Ranch Arts Center, to be continued at a fall residency at the University of California Santa Cruz Print Studio.

Plus a few exchange portfolios with herons: below is my print on translucent washi for Melanie Yazzie’s Transformation and Dreamscape Exchange. I created the heron blocks for Baren Forum’s 100th Exchange, and also put them in a small print for Boston Printmaker’s ImMigration triangle print for IMPACT 13 Trois-Rivières (sorry I will miss this conference!)

I will be in New York on October 18 for always amazing
