Ceramic Wall Reliefs by Susan Tunick
February and March, 2004
http://www.preserve.org/fotc/fotc.htm

The exhibit included seven ceramic pieces. The newest, “Brick Works,” is a site-specific piece created for the gallery with 16 carved and glazed hand-made bricks. Other pieces were “Sphinx’s Smile” and “Carolina Tarheels.” Both use a combination of hexagonal clay forms to create complex color and spatial relationships. The third body of work includes four octagons inset with ceramic and glass mosaic shards. Susan Tunick received an MFA from Bennington College in Vermont and has exhibited widely. Her work has been included in many publications and she has executed commissions in three NYC Subway Stations, in a NYC Public School, and for a New Jersey Light Rail Station.
