Moku Hanga in Japan
the Nagasawa Art Park Program

Sept 17 to Oct 27, 2004

My trip to Japan started in Kobe, where I participated in an exhibition of artists and teachers from the program.

I had been invited to help teach woodcut at the program's Awaji Island studio with an international group of artists who had come to learn moku hanga:

During the second half of my trip, I visited printmakers in Tokyo, and ended my trip visiting temples and art galleries in Kyoto, Tokyo and Nara.

The food was great, but the best part was the people I met, and the support I felt for my artwork and teaching.
